Computer Modeling
HEA senior staff has been involved with groundwater modeling since the very early days of main frame computers, and have applied groundwater modeling techniques to numerous applications throughout the U.S. We have been trained in the use of the MODFLOW code through extensive course work taught by the U.S. Geological Survey at their training facility in Golden, Colorado. The courses were taught by the two main authors of the MODFLOW code, Mike MacDonald and Arlen Harbaugh.

Water Resources
Hydrogeology is the area of geology that deals with the distribution and movement of groundwater through porious media (mainly in aquifers). Our hydrogeologic investigations range from production well design and permitting, well installation supervision, Mechanical Integrity Testing (MIT), aquifer pumping test supervision and analysis and detailed evaluations. HEA personnel also specialize in Water Use Permitting assistance, collecting and evaluating data in support of these permits as well as providing expert witness testimony when needed in support of these permits.

Permitting and Regulatory Assistance
HEA professionals all have a strong background in the regulatory arena. Most all of us have worked with the various Water Management Districts, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and other local regulatory agencies at one time or another during our careers. Therefore, we know how to navigate through the web of regulations in order to obtain or modify whatever environmental permit in an effficient manner.
Contamination Assessment, Monitoring and Remediation Services
Environmental responsibility is an increasingly important and significant concern, particularly in conducting business in today’s climate of rapidly changing regulatory programs. Key aspects of environmental responsibility require compliance with a complexity of environmental laws, rules, regulations, and procedures in order to avoid potentially significant environmental liabilities. HEA environmental professionals have the background and knowlege to assist clients through the maze of environmental regulations.

Geologic and Hydrogeologic Services
HEA is a Geological consulting firm specializing in the geology of Florida. Florida is unique in that it has one of the most prolific aquifers in the United States. Over one billion gallons of water each day is discharged from natural springs from deep within the Floridan Aquifer. HEA geologists are all extremely familiar with the geology of Florida, including the karst nature of the limestone formations. Very few consulting firms have more expertise on Florida geology than the Professional Geologists of HEA.
Well Design & Testing
HEA has assisted numerous municipal, industrial, and agricultural clients throughout the years with the design, installation, testing and permitting of production and monitoring wells. HEA can provide the full gamut of well construction tasks, including: well design, procurement of drilling services, preparation of well specifications, drilling oversight, aquifer testing, and permitting. HEA has installed and tested wells ranging in depth from 10 feet to 6,500 feet. A poorly installed or improperly developed well can cause elevated energy costs at a minimum to pump and impeller damage and failure. Through careful hydrogeologic testing of the aquifer and well effeciency, pumps can be designed and engineered for proper and efficient use.

Expert Witness
Senior HEA professionals are all extremely well versed in the “art” of expert witness testimony. We have been involved with numerous water resource and groundwater contamination issues that have ended up in our court system. Explaining something that is underground where it can’t be see to a judge or jury is challenging.
